Yacine Sylla, LMHC

I am a licensed mental health professional in New York with over eight years of experience in diverse settings, including child welfare, mobile crisis units, and substance use treatment centers. I have worked with adults, children, and adoptive families, and I approach each individual with respect, care, and cultural sensitivity. My practice utilizes evidence-based techniques such as

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI),

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • EMDR

to provide effective support. Whether you're facing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, relational challenges, or life changes, my priority is to create a safe and welcoming space where healing and growth can occur.

I speak French and Wolof. I welcome clients from all backgrounds.

My Focus Areas

Anxiety

If you're feeling overwhelmed by worry or fear that seems to take over your daily life, you might be experiencing anxiety. It's a common condition where your mind may go into overdrive, making it hard to relax or focus, but help is available to guide you toward feeling more at ease.

Depression

If you're feeling persistently sad, hopeless, or uninterested in activities you once enjoyed, you could be dealing with depression. You're not alone—support is available to help you navigate these feelings and find a way back to a more balanced, joyful life.

Trauma

Experiencing a traumatic event can leave you feeling shaken, anxious, or numb long after it happened. Healing takes time, and professional support can help you process your experience and regain a sense of safety and control.

PTSD

If past traumatic experiences continue to cause flashbacks, nightmares, or intense feelings of distress, you might be facing post-traumatic stress disorder. Remember, support and treatment can help reduce these symptoms and empower you to move forward.

Relational Difficulties

Struggling with conflicts, communication issues, or distance in your relationships? These challenges can be deeply painful, but with guidance and support, you can work toward healthier, more fulfilling connections.

Life Transitions

Facing significant changes like a move, career shift, or a major life event can feel overwhelming or uncertain. Remember, change is a part of life, and with support, you can navigate these moments of transition with resilience and confidence.
